Not many have heard about GeeksPhone, unless you’re into Firefox and you live in Europe. GeeksPhone is a Spanish startup that was among the first companies to launch a Firefox OS-based smartphone.

According to wiki, it’s also the first European company to launch an Android smartphone. Well, it looks like GeeksPhone is about to offer its customers the option to choose between the two operating systems.

GeeksPhone has been into Firefox OS since the beginning of the year and has launched several handsets powered by Mozilla’s platform that have proven very popular among smartphone users.

The next smartphone to be released by GeeksPhone will be called Revolution, co-founder Javier Aguera told CNET in an interview. According to him, “We are...confident that we will surprise everyone by its very high performance.”

Firefox OS-powered smartphones are budget-friendly and far from being impressive when it comes to hardware configuration, which is why it’s surprising that GeeksPhone’s Revolution will be packed with high-end features.

The reasons are unveiled by Aguera himself: “the intention was to launch on Android, but given the experience Geeksphone gained in Open Web they have decided to give the users the option to choose between either system.”

Basically, customers will be able to choose a GeeksPhone Revolution smartphone with either Firefox OS or Android operating system.

Although the information provided by GeeksPhone’s official does not point to which version of Android the Revolution will run at launch, it’s nice to know that you can choose whichever system you think it’s suitable for you.

GeeksPhone Revolution is expected to go on sale in the coming months, hopefully, at a more than decent price. There are no details on the phone’s specs sheet on its official website, but we expect more info to emerge in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for more on this one.
