3 Gecube devices with no HD included

Taiwan based Gecube launched its latest 2 portable media players and a portable DVR. Up until now, Gecube was known as a high-performance 3D graphics card "designer". No, the new stuff wasn't revealed in the "contemporary" CTIA wireless 2007, but back in the times where CeBIT 2007 kept the headlines. You probably had enough of both these tech-festivals.

So, hear hear! We have 3 Gecube device with one common feature: no storage at all, nada. The first Portable HQV Media Player (or PMP200) looks slick and has a silvery finish. It features backlit flush controls, a 4.3-inch LCD, AV outputs, built-in microphone, integrated touch controls, and can reportedly hold quite a bundle of songs depending on the size of 2.5-inch hard disk drive that you cram in it. PMP200 will also come in a uglier version that will sport a more ordinary control scheme and will have the same features. Neither, of course, come with an HD. The slicker version will sell for about $180 (no HD), but there's no price info on the uglier model.

The "black and elegant" portable DVR comes without a screen. No surprise until now. Gecube touts that with "one simple click" you can record and convert DV, DVD, and TV content to MPEG4. The DVRBox (HDD Based Digital Video Recorder) records MPEG4 at up to 720*480*30 resolution and will play it back on any TV. It sports composite and S-Video ins and outs (and again, it has no screen). It also has no storage capacity, that part is up to you. You can cram in a 2.5 inch HD (from 10-160GB). The DVRBox should cost you $139.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
