Gears of War fans are in for a major treat next month, as Epic Games and Microsoft will launch the Gears of War Triple Pack for the Xbox 360.

A few weeks ago, a GameStop representative confirmed that something called a Gears of War Ultimate will be launched in February and will contain the first two games released in the franchise.

Now, the collection has been officially revealed in the form of the Gears of War Triple Pack, which will be launched on February 15 for the Xbox 360.

In case you're wondering why it's called a triple pack, the pack includes both Gears of War 1 and 2, as well as the All Fronts Collection add-on, which was released for the second title after its official launch.

It doesn't include, however, the Gears of War Map pack 1 or the Hidden Fronts Map Pack, but both of them can be downloaded for free off of Xbox Live.

Still, if you buy the Gears of War Triple Pack, you'll get a total of 38 multiplayer maps spread across both titles.

Gears of War 1 set a benchmark for third-person shooters, effectively throwing the cover-based mechanic into the mainstream genre, a system which then appeared in all sorts of other games, from Uncharted to Kane & Lynch.

The title also captured the hearts of many fans through its top notch multiplayer mode, taking the brand new franchise close to the Halo one in terms of popularity.

Gears of War 2, on the other hand, didn't have the same warm welcome, as players complained that the multiplayer mode was ruined by the developers at Epic Games.

Still, after quite a lot of updates and patches, things got better and it seems that many of the lessons learned will be added to the future Gears of War 3 title, out at the end of the year.

Gears of War Triple Pack will be launched on February 15, in the USA, for the Xbox 360 with a price of $39.99, but won't include access to the multiplayer beta of Gears of War 3, like the Epic edition of Bulletstorm will.
