The development team at Epic Games announces that Gears of War: Judgment, its upcoming third-person shooter, has gone gold, which means that no further changes are being made to the game code and that the disks that will be shipped to gamers are now being manufactured.

The new game in the series serves as a prequel and follows secondary characters Damon Baird and Augustus Cole as they deal with the events of Emergence Day.

The core gameplay of the series will remain mostly unchanged, although gamers will get a chance to use new weapons and face interesting enemy variations.

The team is also introducing two new multiplayer modes, called OverRun and Free-for-All.

Gears of War: Judgment will be launched exclusively on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft on March 19 in Europe and North America, and two days later in Japan.
