Epic Games and Microsoft have confirmed that their upcoming Gears of War: Judgment title would feature a free-for-all multiplayer mode – a first for the long running shooter franchise.

Gears of War: Judgment was revealed to the world at the beginning of this summer and is looking set to deliver a more hardcore experience, with dynamic gameplay that changes depending on the skill of the player.

Now, more details about the game’s multiplayer mode have been revealed, as Judgment will feature, for the first time in the history of the series, a Free-for-All online competitive mode.

“Gears of War: Judgment, the most intense and challenging Gears game yet, just got even more amped as Microsoft and Epic Games revealed a brand new exhilarating mode, Free-For-All,” the companies said.

“This new multiplayer experience throws team tactics out the window as each player battles for survival and kills versus all other players. A first for the Gears of War series, the Free-For-All mode pits COG soldier on COG soldier in a test of wits and will.”

Besides the confirmation of this new online mode, two more maps from Judgment have been detailed, in the form of Gondola and Library, so check them out below.

Gondola – The Coastal Villa Apartments are part of the exclusive Halvo community located in the prestigious Agora foothills. Residents enjoy a host of interior upgrades, and each unit features an ocean view from a private patio or balcony. This quiet, gated community is located only a short gondola ride from the renowned shops and businesses of our active and thriving coastal community.

Library – The Alexiy Desipich Memorial Library is not a library in the traditional sense, but rather an archive of important documents surrounding his life, career, and personal interests. An avid historian, politician, and philosopher, Desipich is most remembered as the father and creator of the Austere Canon, the basis for the Coalition of Ordered Governments, which was shaped around eight guiding principles: Order, Diligence, Purity, Labor, Honor, Loyalty, Faith, and Humility.
