Epic Games has just released a brand new downloadable content pack for last year’s Gears of War 3, in the form of the Forces of Nature add-on, which brings not just new maps for the multiplayer modes, but also all sorts of other things, including characters and weapons.

Gears of War 3 came out in September last year, impressing lots of Xbox 360 owners with its sharp single-player and the addictive multiplayer mode.

Since then, developer Epic Games has kept on releasing all sorts of downloadable content, which brought not just new things to the multiplayer mode, through the likes of the Horde Command add-on, but also new single-player adventures, through the RAAM’s Shadow expansion.

Now, with Forces of Nature, Epic is bringing quite a few new maps, as well as some old favorites, that feature all sorts of natural hazards.

In terms of levels, three new ones are included, in the form of Cove, Aftermath, and Artillery, while two remastered maps from the first two Gears of War games, Jacinto and Raven Down, make a comeback.

New characters, achievements and weapons are also a part of the new DLC.

“This pack adds five new multiplayer maps, each featuring unique weather conditions: Aftermath (Flooding City), Artillery (Tornado), Cover (Fog), Jacinto (Rainstorm and Imulsion), and Raven Down (Snowstorm). Also included are 250 Achievement Points and four new multiplayer characters; the Savage Hunter, and new variants of Commando Dom, Mechanic Baird, and the Savage Grenadier Elite,” Epic revealed.

The Forces of Nature DLC for Gears of War 3 is now available for download via the Xbox Live online service. It’s completely free for those who got the Season Pass last year, while regular owners of the game need to pay 800 MS Points. Season Pass owners shouldn’t choose to buy the DLC, as this means they’ll get charged a second time for the add-on.
