The main writer who has worked on the Gears of War 3 narrative has admitted that Gears of War 3, which was recently launched exclusively on the Xbox 360 home console from Microsoft, has definitely wrapped up the main story arc of the game universe but cannot hope to tie up all the loose ends created during the first two titles.

Karen Traviss, who is the writer who worked on the Gears of War 3 story, told Eurogamer that, “I come from a background where a series with things left unanswered is part of the joy of it. They may never be answered, I don’t know. But you can’t tie up everything. There are some things that we know but the characters don’t know yet – and may never know.”

The writer seems to accept that given the large number of fans of the Gears of War franchise there's no way to make sure that the story and the ending is perfect for all of them.

She added, “You're never going to please everybody. You're always going to have the people that want to do a fact sheet on Wikipedia with everything answered. You're never going to get that.”

When the first Gears of War came out, showing what the Xbox 360 could deliver in terms of gameplay experiences, few players worried about the story of the battle between the Locust and humanity.

The second game in the franchise again managed to underline what the Microsoft home console could deliver but this time around critics talked about the limits of the story and about how one sided most of the characters were.

Epic Games has already said that the trilogy is now done and that any loose ends that remain might be wrapped up in downloadable content releases.

It seems that the company is now focusing on building Unreal Engine 4 and might turn the Samaritan tech demo into a full game.
