No word on that patch sadly

Gears of War 2 is the sequel to one of the most popular games ever released for the Xbox 360, which sold extremely well and propelled Microsoft's console to new heights in terms of sales and market share. With this second installment, the team at Epic Games wanted to bring new improvements to the original and introduced a lot of new things, like weapons and game modes, in order to satisfy the big number of fans.

Sadly, not all of these changes were welcomed with open arms, as gamers found that a lot of multiplayer improvements actually made the game unbearable, with various weapon imbalances or poor matchmaking. This led to a lot of user complaints that lashed out at Epic Games for trying to radically change something that was very good from the start. But things will change, as Mark Rein, an executive of the company, promised that a patch would be released soon and that it would address most of the problems.

However, as no news on said patch appeared, the global product manager for Gears of War 2, Guy Welch, announced that new achievements would be implemented in the game once it would arrive. He also went on to say that the game sold over 4 million copies in the few months since its pre-holiday release and it was seriously threatening the first Gears, which sold 5 million units up until now.

“The original Gears of War was the fastest-selling next-generation game of 2006, selling more than 2 million units worldwide that Holiday, and now well over 5 million copies sold to date,” said Welch. “With Gears of War 2, the game has sold over 4 million units in the first two months, doubling the pace of the original.”

He then went on to elaborate on the Achievements list, which is already on the official Xbox website, saying that they were linked with the Flashback and Combustible map packs. Here's the full list of 7 achievements:

-Skeletons in your Closet (20G) - Complete waves 1 through 10 on all Flashback Map Pack maps in Horde (any difficulty) -More Mystery, Less History (15G) - Win a multiplayer match on each of the 5 Flashback Map Pack maps (any mode except Wingman) -Bound by a Shared Past (15G) - Win a Wingman match on each of the 5 Flashback Map Pack maps -Trial by, and on, Fire (20G) - Survive first 10 Horde waves on Combustible Map Pack maps as a team -The Roof! The Roof! The Roof... (15G) - Win a multiplayer match on each of the 3 Combustible Map Pack maps (any mode except Wingman) -Forged in the Fire (15G) - Win a Wingman match on each of the 3 Combustible Map Pack maps -Annex: Now With Execution Rules (75G) - Win an Annex match on each Flashback and Combustible Map Pack map (public matches only)

It seems that Gears of War 2 fans are in for some very interesting multiplayer matches, but still, nothing concrete on the patch has been revealed yet, as Epic seems to prefer keeping things secret until the final product is ready.
