Followed by Call of Duty

In a month when the gaming industry grew by around 10% over the same period of 2007, bringing the total revenue for the year to around 16 billion dollars, sales of videogames went up by 11%, which is good but not great, considering the value of the games released during the recent four weeks.

The biggest game of November was Gears of War 2 from Epic and Microsoft, exclusively launched for the Xbox 360. The game managed to sell more than 1.56 million copies in around a month and sales are still going strong.

The second place went to the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: World at War, which was developed by Treyarch and published by Activison Blizzard. The title has managed to sell 1.41 million units, despite the fact that it is going back to World War II after the modern setting of Call of Duty 4.

The apparently undying Wii Play and Wii Fit from Nintendo are occupying the third and the fourth positions in the chart, with sales of 796,000 and 697,000 units. The Nintendo Wii managed to sell 2.04 million copies in November.

Mario Kart Wii is at number five, with sales of 637,000, while the PlayStation 3 version of Call of Duty: World at War is at number six, with sales of 597,000 units in one month.

Guitar Hero: World Tour for the Nintendo Wii is at number seven, while Left 4 Dead for the Xbox 360, from Valve and Electronic Arts, sold 410,000 and reached number eight. Resistance 2 and Wii Music hold the last two positions in the top 10.

The Nintendo Wii has done extremely well in the hardware charts, not being equaled by the results in the software top. Everyone expected Gears of War 2 to be a big seller, although some would be surprised by the popularity of Call of Duty: World at War.
