With gamers entering the busiest videogame release period of the year, charts are a good way of seeing how players greet each title; they also allow you to find out what best fits your gaming preferences and budget.

Chart Track, the company which reports sales data for the United Kingdom, says that Gears of War 2 has taken over the charts, managing to sell more than perpetual favorite FIFA 09. The Xbox 360 exclusive game, which tells the story of how the Gears take the fight to the Locust, has managed to prove more interesting than the one allowing you to control such great players as Cristiano Ronaldo or Frank Lampard. It's surprising to see Gears of War 2 triumph taking into account the fact that FIFA 09 launched on the PC, the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3, the PlayStation 2, the PlayStation Portable, the Nintendo Wii and the DS.

Gears of War 2 is the third best sold title in the history of the Xbox 360 in the United Kingdom, behind GTA IV and Halo 3. It is also the eighth best sold game in the history of UK launches.

Fallout 3, the Bethesda made post apocalyptic role playing game, came in the third position, while LittleBigPlanet, a PlayStation 3 exclusive which combines a platformer with a powerful level editor, managed to debut at fourth place facing very tough competition.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 is in fifth place, while Quantum of Solace, the Activision powered James Bond shooter which is accompanying the movie with the same name, managed to enter the top ten at number eight. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009, a Konami game which was at number one at some point, is now at number nine, while Wii Fit is at number ten.
