Gears of War 2 was one of the most anticipated titles at the end of last year, promising to take the whole great experience of the first game and deliver even more interesting twists when it comes to the story and new mechanics in terms of the multiplayer mode.

Sadly, it didn't really keep a lot of its promises, as the online mode was lag-filled and the matchmaking system wasn't the best to say the least. But thanks to a lot of title updates and new features released after the launch of the title, things are looking pretty good for the game created by Cliff Bleszinski and his team over at Epic Games.

The creator has now talked with the Xbox 360 community manager Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb about the upcoming Dark Corners DLC pack, which will contain not only seven new maps for the multiplayer mode but also a new downloadable campaign mission. However, this isn't any ordinary mission, as it will feature some stealth gameplay, as the two main protagonists, Marcus and Dom, will be donning Locust outfits and try to infiltrate the base of their enemies.

“It's a 90-minute section that was actually snipped out of Gears of War 2, where Marcus and Dom are actually going to the Locust homeworld and they're basically suited up in Locust armor and have a choice – because they knocked out a couple of Therons – they can go in guns-blazing as they always do, Rambo-style, or they can go with a more stealth approach, so it's a little bit of stealth in the Gears universe,” Bleszinski revealed in Nelson’s podcast.

“You get Achievements for playing the mode either way and it kind of plugs right into the main game. It's actually the first time we've done any sort of single-player DLC. It's kind of a test to see whether people dig it,” he added.

A lot of players will remember that this mission was hinted at in the main storyline of the single player portion, but was quickly dropped in favor of a much more masculine guns-blazing approach to the infiltration of the Locust base.

This will certainly be an interesting new addition and a lot of players will be tempted to grab it off of the Xbox Live Marketplace when it will arrive on July 28, for $15.
