Since there’s been so much talk about wearables coming from brand vendors like Samsung, LG and Motorola, all the attention has been focused on those products. Yet, that doesn't mean Chinese makers don’t have offerings of their own in the field.

Chinese start-up Geak has already launched a smartwatch offering last year and according to GizChina, the company is already gearing up to provide a successor.

The Geak W1 was apparently quite well received by consumers and managed to sell up to 100,000 units across China. The watch is built with an ultra-low power 1GHz MIPS processor combined with 512MB of RAM at its core and 4GB of non-expandable units.

The display measures 1.55 inches and has a pretty crisp 240 x 240 resolution. The watch bundled Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, FM radio, GPS and a host of sensors to monitor overall health.

The watch comes with a luxurious package and sports a pretty stylish look overall, but the lack of features and app support has kept it from reaching its full potential.

And now we have word that the Geak 2 smartwatch might be in the works. Not many details are known at the moment, but it appears the second-gen time-keeper will come with a larger display and might run with COS, China’s own OS based on Android (without the integrated Google services).

Would you buy a Chinese piece of wearable technology?
