Gamers from five regions will take part in the Grand Finals

Video game developer Wargaming and video card manufacturer Nvidia announce that they are organizing the GeForce eSports World of Tanks Open Tournament, an event that allows players to compete in order to win prizes totaling 100,000 dollars (77,500 Euro) and GeForce GTX 600 hardware.

Gamers can pre-register starting today and then visit the official site again on March 28 in order to make sure that they are part of the competition.

James Grunke, the manager of the GeForce eSports program at NVIDIA, states, “This free tournament and all the great video-on-demand and streaming coverage we’ve got planned are our way of providing a really fun and rewarding experience for our best customers.”

There are five regions that will compete in the qualifiers: America, Europe, Russia, China and APAC.

Finalists from each of them will get a paid trip to the Grand Finals, the location of which will be announced later.

The format of the GeForce eSports World Of Tanks Open Tournament will include seven-man teams fighting to be the best out of three matches.

All the matches will be streamed online on Geforce.com and Twitch TV.

Fans of Wargaming will also get access to leaderboards, blogging for the most interesting matches and other spectating options.

Kevin Van Ness, the head of community at the North American division of Wargaming, adds, “World of Tanks really strikes a chord with players looking for that ultimate competitive gaming experience, thanks to its team-based gameplay and strategic action. We're looking forward to combining our world-class community with the world-class expertise of NVIDIA for this exciting event.”

World of Tanks is a global phenomenon at the moment, with more than 55 million registered players all over the world.

The game is free to play and allows players to choose their favorite World War II vehicle and then engage other players in complex tactical battles.
