Cooler, faster, more aggressive and perhaps even true 4k!

The famous graphics card manufacturer Palit has finally released the GTX 980Ti in its product lineup. Called the GTX 980Ti Super JetStream, it features an innovative cooling and optimized product design for the best performance available.

Built to support the best current-generation Maxwell technology can provide, the current Super JetStream will manage to harness the raw power that Maxwell GPUs will unleash to play the newest games out there.

Overclocking the mighty stock 980Ti from 1000MHz to 1152 MHz and using the 2816 cuda cores available, it ends up a faster product than the stock machine sold by Nvidia. According to Palit, the cooling kit will amp up the stock card's performance by about 11%. Also, the GPU temperature is kept 12 degrees Celsius cooler overall and 8dB quieter under intensive gaming.

Not unlike the future ASUS Strix 0dB technology, the JetStream will employ a similar cooling system aimed at stopping the cooling fan completely when idling or under very low energy consumption. The TurboFan Blade together with Dual Fans counting on 10CM-10CM Smart Fans technology is why you'd buy Palit's aftermarket graphics card: extreme cooling.

An interesting addition is the DrMOS that is used for high-end server CPUs and now is brought to gamers' PCs offering high current circuits, low noise operation, and great heat reduction.

Bold claims

Otherwise, Palit's GTX 980Ti comes with the same tech as the stock card issued by Nvidia, three DisplayPorts for 4K entertainment, one DVI-I and one HDMI, plus the ability to link dual DVI monitors with bundled HDMI to DVI adapter.

However, what's truly impressive is that, according to Palit, "GeForce GTX 980 Ti Super JetStream can take on 4K gaming at high settings with ease with a single VGA card" - a bold statement. We tested the latest GTX 980Ti in 4k resolutions in 3D Mark and it failed badly. It did, however, run smoothly in Battelfield 4 at 2K resolutions while supersampling our 1080p limited game (thanks to our monitor available at the time).

Nevertheless, JetStream's GTX 980Ti comes with an overclocked base frequency and can be overclocked further, so I won't be surprised if it does actually offer decent framerates in 4k gaming after all.
