GeCube's 2GB HD3870 Graphics Card Moves Gaming to High-Definition

- The new card packs a complete gaming and HD entertainment solution for the PC

By: Bogdan Botezatu, Hardware Editor

GeCube has just released its single GPU HD3870 graphics accelerator featuring the Unified Shader architecture and 2GB of high-speed GDDR3 memory. The new graphics accelerator aims at delivering a high-definition video experience for both gamers and HD multimedia enthusiasts.

According to the company, the new HD3870 offering allows users to enjoy smooth gaming at amazing resolutions of up to 2500×1600, when paired with a 30-inch widescreen display. Moreover, the huge amount of on-board graphics memory can process the highest level of detail available to the game.

The graphics card is built around AMD's RV670XT graphics core built on the 55-nanometer process node and supports the latest ATI CrossFireX technology, as well as Windows Vista's DirectX 10.1 graphics engine.

More than that, the new card features full support for 5.1 channel surround sound, built-in HDMI, full HDCP, as well as HD-DVD and Blu-Ray support over double Dual-Link DVI. Thanks to the built-in support for high definition 1080p resolutions, GeCube's new graphics card is especially suitable for professional home-theater setups.

GeCube has come up with its own cooling solution to keep temperatures down. The card features a new X-Turbo III silent fan with a turbine design that efficiently cools the graphics core and the high-speed memory at extremely low noise levels. Additionally, the turbine design lets enthusiasts overclock the HD3870 graphics processor at up to 825MHz and 870MHZ frequencies for the core and memory, respectively.

The card also comes with improved support for new application technologies, 320 Unified Stream Processors, physics processing support and the ATI PowerPlay technology, a combination that delivers increased graphics computing power for the same power consumption as a stock design.

Pricing and availability details about the new graphics product are still unknown, but the card is expected to hit the retailers' shelves sometime in mid-May.
