While many people like to pride themselves in being tolerant of same-gender couples, very few of them actually approve of gay marriage. Even fewer think that it's OK for gay couples to raise children. However, studies conducted on this issue prove these people wrong.

Researchers demonstrate that children raised by such couples tend to fare just as well as other children in absolutely any area, from their studies to their behaviors. In fact, they also display some advantages, such as being less prone to discrimination, and being more sensitive about other people.

While heterosexual individuals display a 50 percent accidental pregnancy rate, the incidence of unplanned or unwanted children among gay couples is close to zero. In other words, these people actually want to be parents more than anything else, and raise their children accordingly.

“That translates to greater commitment on average and more involvement,” LiveScience quotes Clark University psychologist Abbie Goldberg as saying.
