This just goes to show that nothing can keep you safe from cameras - not even being a member of the British Royal family. The Daily Mail reports that details have emerged in connection with an alleged scandal of a "sex and drugs" film at the center of an alleged plot to blackmail a member of the Royal Family. And while the existence of an actual "sex tape" has been officially denied, authorities are said to be in possession of compromising footage involving the said Royal, and it looks like some serious strings are being pulled from preventing any details from leaking to the media.
The whole story started in August this year when two men are said to have demanded 50,000 in return for footage which was taken on a mobile phone. On the film, a close aide is seen as allegedly "boasting" of engaging in a gay sex act with the royal in question. The aide is also apparently seen taking cocaine from an envelope bearing the royal person's name, chopping up the drug with a Harrods credit card and snorting it.
It's funny and at the same time interesting to watch all these twists and turns in the way the British press is handling this story - trying to let at least some substance filter through the many layers of secrecy, mystery, doubts and elusive statements. But the fact is, something has definitely happened and there is a major scandal in the making, simmering between the apparently serene surface, barely contained by the British secret services. The Daily Mail, who picks us the story and gives a comprehensive report about all the shady dealings and alleged blackmail, has reported that it is in fact aware of the identity of the Royal Family member in question - but cannot name any names for legal reasons.
Another interesting detail is that the blackmailers are said to have initially had help from a Sunday tabloid which apparently took some interest in their story and wanted to look into it and to start an investigation, but subsequently lost interest in the story and tipped off the Royal Household about the men. The only thing that resembles a revelation and that the Daily Mail does let slip is that the Royal in question is not one of the "senior" members of the British Royal Family, which makes me believe that it may be one of the two hard-partying princes (William and Harry) - but you never know. We will keep you posted on any development on this story - and I have a feeling we haven't seen the end of it just yet.
