Gateway Unveils Two New Slim 14-Inch Laptops

Gateway has announced today two new portable computer systems as part of its new TC Series of laptops, which have been designed using features from the company's MC Series and MD Series. The two new laptops boast a compact and lightweight design, featuring a 14-inch High-Definition display and coming for a starting price tag of just $649.99.

“We've taken the best of our incredibly popular MC and MD lines and made it even more compact and lightweight in the TC Series,” said Ray Sawall, senior product marketing manager for Acer America. “The result is the perfect marriage of useful features and compact design punctuated with an eye-catching style. Plus, we've maintained the budget-minded price tag, giving customers an incredible bang for their buck.”

The company, which is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Acer Inc., has launched two new models, the TC7306u and the TC7307u, providing users with black and burgundy coloring options. Both systems have been designed to incorporate a 1.3 MP webcam, WiFi, gigabit Ethernet, a 1366 by 768 resolution panel, built-in multicard reader and three USB 2.0 ports. These two models will boast Intel's Pentium Dual-Core T4200 processors, 4GB of Dual Channel DDR2 667Mhz memory and Intel's integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M.

Additional features include a dual-layer DVDRW w/ DVD-RAM drive and high-capacity 320 hard drive. According to the PC vendor, both configurations will become available with a Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1 64-bit operating system, along with a Microsoft Works 9.0 and a 60-day trial of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007.

Aside from the aforementioned specifications, the new line of laptops, designed by Gateway will be capable of providing their users with support for up to 500GB of storage, an optional Blu-ray optical drive, or a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 9300M graphics card, with support for DirectX 10 and some of the latest gaming applications on the market.
