Last week, Gateway introduced two new desktop computer systems designed for gaming and multimedia enthusiasts. This week, the company that is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Acer, the world’s third largest PC vendor, has unveiled another surprise by announcing the new MC-series of notebooks, specifically designed to meet the performance requirements of entertainment enthusiasts that want to enjoy their favorite multimedia applications wherever they go.

“Gateway’s new MC-Series notebook PC line delivers an immersive entertainment experience by combining the latest in technology with features that are easy to use and give customers quick access to their digital media,” said Ray Sawall, senior product manager for Gateway. “Plus, the MC-Series was inspired by modern automotive design, so it has an elegant, modern look and feel that is both subtle and distinctive.”

The main feature of Gateway’s new MC-series of notebooks is that these portable computer systems are equipped with a 16-inch glass widescreen display, designed to offer users a high-quality video experience, at a maximum resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels. In addition to this, they will also get several illuminated multimedia touch controls, conveniently placed around the notebook’s keyboard, allowing for easy access to frequently used multimedia applications.

As far as the technical performance of the new arrivals is concerned, users should bear in mind that Gateway has equipped the latest portable systems with the computing power delivered by the Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 processor. Other technical specifications include 4GB of DDR2 667MHz memory, 320GB of storage space, optical drive and Intel’s GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics. This configuration is available for the MC7801u model, which comes in a burgundy color option and is available for an MSRP of $949.99.

However, if you require even more graphics power than that, the MC7803u model has been equipped with a discrete ATI Mobility HD 3650 graphics card, offering a total of 512MB of memory for enhanced performance. This configuration comes in black at an MSRP of $999.99.
