Gateway recently announced that they will add two new LCDs with added HDCP capability in order for users to be able to watch HD content. The models will be a 24 inches 1080p capable and a 22 inches 768p/720i completing the 19'' and 21'' LCD line.Good news for those eager to put their new HD-DVD or Blu-Ray player to good use.

First there's the 24 inch LCD with a native resolution of 1920X1200, which can actually display 1080i content in full resolution without having to resize or interpolate the movie to a lower resolution. The LCD offers a dual-component interface, touchscreen operation and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. 6ms will be the standard response time and it will have a brightness of 450 cd/m2. Announced price is $680. Quite a deal if you already have the capabilities to render HD content and only need the display.

Gateway's 22" HD LCD has a standard 1680x1050 pixel resolution so it will play HD resampled at 768p (1366x768 progressive), but it will also have a price tag of only $400, costing exactly as much as Gateway's 21" screen. The 22" LCD offers 300 cd/m2 brightness and a 700:1 contrast ratio. Providing you're a sucker for HD movies, you'll love this LCD but certainly not as much as its older 24'' brother.
