Like most of its rivals on the personal computer market, Gateway has recently been busying itself with releasing newer and better computers. Still, one can always use a change of pace, and the company decided to add some variety by putting desktops and laptops aside and, instead, doing a favor for the display segment. Gateway has just unveiled a pair of 19-inch liquid crystal displays meant to service professional office users during long working hours.

The products go by the names of MW19 and MW19V. And both measure 19 inches in diagonal. Their panels have a native resolution of 1,400 x 900 pixels and a dynamic contrast ratio of 50,000:1. Also, the brightness is a decent 250 cd/m2, while the response time is of 5 ms. Not exactly the highest-quality Full HD displays out there to be sure, but they definitely suit the needs of office workers, especially at their price point. Connectivity falls to the built-in d-Sub and DVI connectors.

Gateway didn't just disregard all the other aspects of its creations, of course, and the environment friendliness part appears to have been taken into account especially well. For one, the models have Energy Star 5 rating and even comply with the TCO Displays 5.0 certification. Not only that, but they are built free of PVC or BFR, which means they will have a much lower impact upon the environment, even after being discarded.

It should probably be noted that the stand of the monitors contribute greatly to their overall appeal, especially on the market segment they target. Since office workers usually have to stay in front of the same desk all day, comfort is paramount. Knowing this, Gateway threw in not just height and pivot adjustments, but also the possibility to swivel the screen. The MW19V can already be pre-ordered for £123, the equivalent of $189.
