Gateway has just announced a new series of servers built using AMD's recently released Opteron 6100 series of processors that are designed to meet the demands of SMBs, enterprises and public sector environments looking for balanced systems capable of delivering good performances and improved energy efficiency.

Gateway's new SMB server line includes a wide range of tower, rack and multi-node products and can be customized according to the needs of its clients.

Making our way to the top, the first solutions that we encounter are the Gateway Tower series (GT) models that are designed to be used by growing small business and includes the GT115 F1 single socket tower server as well as various other machines.

Next in line are Gateway's Rack series servers, that can be identified by the GR designation and offer improved manageability and I/O flexibility as well as various expansion options.

Gatweay's highest performing rack server is the 2U GR585 F1 that packs four processing cores, 32 DDR3 registered/unbuffered ECC DIMM sockets, dual PCIe x16 and one PCIe x8 slots, onboard SATA with software RAID 0, 1 or 10 support, dual-port Intel 82576EB Gigabit Ethernet and dual 1400W 80PLUS power supply units.

Finally, the most advanced servers in Gateway's lineup, are the Gemini series (GW) machines, that are optimized for space efficiency and run applications both independently and in parallel with multi-nodes in 1U or 2U form factors.

Gateway's most powerful AMD-based solution in the Gemini line is the Gateway GW2000h that can be paired together with up to four GW175h/q F1.

The server comes in a 2U form factor, packs two Opteron 6100-series processors and 16 DDR3 memory slots.

As far as the GW175h/q F1 nodes are concerned, these are hot-pluggable and support up to two AMD Opteron 6100 series processors, 16 DDR3 registered/unbuffered ECC DIMMs, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, and up to three SATA hard disk drives.

High-speed peripherals can be connected to the processors via a low-profile PCIe 2.0 slot or a quad data rate InfiniBand module.

Details regarding pricing and availability have not been disclosed by the company.
