Even though all-in-one systems are known for their tendency to cost thousands, Gatweay seems to have succeeded in creating a pair that are priced at less than $1,000 even while still packing performance the likes of multiple gigabytes of memory and Intel Core CPUs.

The two all-in-one PCs that Gateway has announced via a press release are the Gateway One ZX4951 and One ZX6951.

The newcomers have displays with diagonals of 21.5 inches and 23 inches, respectively, plus native resolutions that support Full HD video quality (1,920 x 1,080 pixels).

As far as their insides go, their configurations are centered around an Intel Pentium or Intel Core i3 Series central processing unit.

Said CPU is backed up by between 4 GB and 16 GB of RAM, as well as a hard disk drive with an internal capacity of either 500 GB or 640 GB.

There is also a 5.1-channel sound system, integrated wireless, a webcam, optional Blu-ray and, in the case of the ZX6951, a built-in TV tuner.

“The demand for all-in-one desktop PCs took off last year with the introduction of Windows 7 and its touch screen capabilities, and as the technology became more powerful and less expensive,” said Steve Smith, senior business manager of consumer desktops, Acer America.

“The newest additions to our ZX One Series of PCs expand the choices available, making these highly stylized PCs more accessible to a wider range of customers,” he added.

“The new Gateway ZX One Series features a unique curved bottom edge, adding some flair to the traditional box-shaped PC design,” states the press release.

“A glossy black bezel and chrome and silver accents keep it modern and elegant. Lighting along the bottom edge of the PC can be set to four different brightness levels, adding ambiance to the room and lighting up the wireless keyboard,” the announcement adds.

Already shipping, the Gateway ZX4951 and ZX6951 come with prices between $899.99 and $999.99.
