Since the Christmas Holidays are drawing near at a fast pace, this is probably why we are seeing some of the major systems vendors announcing new configurations built to draw the attention of all those potential customers out there looking to upgrade their desktop computer rig to the configurations recently made available. Gateway, a company that is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Acer, has just announced two new desktop computer systems for gaming and digital media enthusiasts.

“Consumers looking to maximize their budgets as the holiday season approaches will appreciate these affordable, powerful, no-compromise systems that get the job done without breaking the bank,” said Glenn Jystad, senior manager, desktop products for Gateway. “The FX6710 offers top-notch gaming performance at an incredible price, while our new LX6200 makes pursuing digital media hobbies a much more affordable and realistic proposition.”

Despite no pictures, we do have some detailed technical specifications on Gateway's recently introduced desktop computer systems. From what we can see, the company has decided to go for Intel's computing power combined with ATI's Radeon discrete graphics cards for the gaming rig, while the new LX series Digital Powerhouse is built entirely on AMD's technologies.

The new FX6710 gaming rig comes with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 processor, ATI's Radeon HD4850 graphics card, with 512MB of memory, 6GB of dual-channel DDR2 memory, 750GB of storage space, a 15-in-1 high-speed digital media card reader, optical drive and Windows Vista operating system. The LX6200, on the other hand, is designed to take advantage of AMD's Phenom X4 9500 Quad Core Processor, combined with ATI's Radeon HD 3200 graphics. It also delivers 8GB of DDR2 memory, 750GB of storage space, optical drive, built-in media card reader, and also a 64-bit Windows Vista SP1 operating system.

Both systems will also provide six USB 2.0 ports and 8-channel high-definition audio, and are available at leading retailers for an MSRP of $1,199 and $779, for the FX-series and LX-series configurations, respectively.
