After the announcement of the new P series of mobile computer systems, Gateway now launched a new range of desktop computers that are aimed at various users while being extremely customizable and feature rich. The advanced technology found integrated into these new desktop computers from Gateway means that users can enjoy a full range of activities like gaming, Internet surfing and multimedia playback at a high quality level.

The GT series from Gateway comes as the center
of the digital home and they are also providing a smart approach to computing from the outside in, thanks to the customized casing that allows for quick access to frequently used multimedia ports for headsets and microphone as well as ports designed for use in conjunction with high speed USB 2.0 complaint devices and a multi functional card reader.

The entire Gateway GT series of desktop computer systems is powered by Intel made central processing units and a medium level typical configuration, like the GT5628 model, comes equipped with the Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor while its mainboard is centered around the Intel G33 chipset that integrates Viiv technology. On the random access memory side the GT5628 comes with 3GB of DDR2 memory that is laid out in a dual channel configuration, so the powerful Intel made processor will have enough memory for its needs.

The presence of the discrete graphics card powered by the Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT graphics processing unit together with no less than 256MB of dedicated video memory makes even the latest generation of games run seamlessly and provide users with a one of a kind visual experience.

As this range of Gateway computers are aimed at providing users with the basic tools for a complete multimedia and digital life experience, they also come equipped with truly big hard disk drives and in the case of the GT5628 model, Gateway provided a 500GB Serial ATA II compatible storage device that comes with 8MB of cache memory while spinning at 7200rpm. A multi format compliant DVD burner is also present by default and it supports a maximum DVD writing speed of 18x while also featuring the Labelflash technology.

All Gateway desktop computer systems from the highly customizable GT range come with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium with Media Center pre-installed as this operating system provides even novice users with an easy to understand interface for all multimedia needs. The entry level Gateway GT comes with a starting price tag of $529.99, while a higher end model like the GT5628 comes with a tag of $959.99.
