Microsoft's much-anticipated Windows 7 operating system is just a few days ahead of its official debut, which will most likely set the stage for a new wave of computer systems that have been specifically designed to be launched with said OS. Such is the case with Gateway, Acer's subsidiary, which is expected to announce a new portable computer system that will be launched with the aforementioned operating system and will compete in the market of tablet PCs. Reportedly dubbed EC18T, the new laptop has just been leaked on the Internet with pictures of the upcoming design.

There aren't many details available at this time, but according to a recent post on Engadget the new Gateway EC18T tablet PC has been designed to incorporate Intel's Core 2 Duo processors, coupled with up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM and providing users with a choice for Microsoft's Windows 7 Home Premium or Basic. Built on Intel's GS45 Express graphics chipset, the upcoming laptop seems to have adopted a slim and lightweight design, featuring a display that is a bit larger than typical netbooks, at 11.6 inches.

Unfortunately, none of these specifications have been confirmed by the company, which is most likely waiting to announce this product as soon as Microsoft gives out the official word on the launch of its much appreciated Windows 7 operating system. Given what we know, the EC18T has the potential of becoming one of the favorites in the marketplace, especially considering all the touch-enabled functions that have been built into Microsoft's Windows 7 OS.

As for pricing and availability, we will have to wait until the system will be formerly introduced by its manufacturer, or until another leak will provide us with such details. Nevertheless, Windows 7 launches on October 22, by which time we should deal with a couple of other new systems shipping with said OS.
