Seeing as Google has been pioneering new technologies for some time, I doubt that the fact that their current technology will be 'obsolete' in five years means anything at all. Considdering our current rate of technology growth (Moore's law, anybody?), the same is true of ALL technology currently on the market.

What new pioneering technologies? They bought Keyhole? or whatever that thing is called...I give em the search engine it is great and adsense is generating revenues, but other then that Gates and Ballmer are right on! I mean there is a reason they have 25 and 50 Billion. Sergi and Brin are very bright and there is no doubt about that and they got there 3 Billion each but if you cannot see how their business works and that it is just a first to market Search engine! with an advanced algoarhytm and the magic genuis of realizing that if a keyword relates to a topic and is the most viewed webpage it is the most relevent and therefore at the top of the list. It was a great idea 10 years ago but Unless GOOG hits every button perfect and this is a huge assumption they will still be around in 5 years but my money is with Gates and Ballmer :) I think they have a little more staying power but that is just a hunch from a naive 24 year college student! Oh yes and furthermore if you have done your reading lately you will see that moore's law is actually coming to an end just like GOOG's stock price. I bet you have the house bet on GOOG huh buddy? You are blinded by GOOG's sexy glamour that you will pay 250 a share! LMAO anyone who pays 250 and even 200 a share deserves to lose whatever money they will if they ride it out for the next 5 years! If you wanna short term trade it allright I see your logic but def. Not at these valuations I mean "lets get serious" and how is OUR? do u speak as if Moore's law relates to GOOG when in fact it pertains to Chip Size and processing power?
