It's not that Gary Oldman is a cheap actor, it's just that he's that awesome. He actually agreed to star in David Bowie's video for “The Next Day” in exchange for “a sandwich and a bottle of pop.”

The rocker and the actor have been good friends for 25 years so it's no surprise that when Bowie emailed him and asked if he could star in the video, Gary didn't bat an eyebrow and said yes.

“It was all done for a sandwich and a bottle of pop (soda). We actually shot it in a place that's about 10 minutes from my house. There was no money in it,” he told the Daily Mail's Event Magazine in a lengthy interview that details their friendship throughout the years.

The video also features Marion Cotillard and sees the actor don a priest's frock. The video is quite controversial, as is shows several clergy members performing some weird acts. There's a cardinal giving out money to dancing girls, a monk practicing self-flagellation and Bowie portrayed as the Messiah.

Oldman isn't ashamed of the video and claims that he's done it happily for his friend David Bowie, without asking for any money.
