Fans of the “Star Wars” series better not get their hopes up, but there is a teeny-weeny possibility, the great actor Gary Oldman might star in “Episode VII.”

Oldman himself confirmed the news during an interview in which he's promoting the new RoboCop film, by saying that the rumors were true and that he was indeed contacted by the producers and asked if he would like to join.

Though he's known for memorable performances in serious roles, Oldman has also given credibility to more commercial franchises such as “Harry Potter,” “Batman” and, more recently “Planet of the Apes.”

Still reserved, Oldman said “They’ve called. … I’m more cynical about it now. I’ll believe it when I’m on the plane home. The deal isn’t done. But yeah they’ve inquired,” during the interview.

Of course, this wouldn't be the first actor to be rumored to star in the eagerly anticipated “Episode VII,” but for this one, fans might actually get excited. So what do you say, who do you think Oldman is going to portray in the film?
