Gary Coleman’s death and the days leading up to it remain shrouded in mystery and, oddly enough, his ex’s interviews are not helping at all in terms of clearing it up. Though she was no longer married to the actor at the time of his hospitalization, Shannon Price was the one who decided to take him off life support, a decision that prompted speculation of just how much she stood to win from his death.

In a new interview with Radar Online, Shannon tries to defend herself against allegations of being a gold digger and conducting herself in a very inappropriate manner at the time of the star’s death and shortly afterwards. The media does have a way to put a particular spin on any story, regardless of what it may be, and the same applies to her case. That she was giving out interviews only minutes after pulling the plug on the machines that were keeping her ex husband alive does not mean she’s not grieving his death, she says in what the blogosphere has dubbed the weirdest interview of recent weeks.

“I’m not a gold digger. I never took advantage of Gary’s money. I had that much respect for him because I knew the extent of how many people took advantage of him. When I met Gary, I never knew who he was, never even knew his name. I kept calling him ‘Shorty’ for a while because I forgot. Everyone says I’m not emotional, but I am, I have a different way of feeling and grieving than other people and I just don’t like to do it in front of people. But I do grieve in my own way,” Price insists.

“Gary and I didn’t think clearly with some of the decisions we had made and we did let our emotions get the best of us sometimes,” she adds of how she and Coleman divorced after a few very troubled months of marriage. “But our love for each other kept us going no matter what. We were always still by each other’s side at the end of the day. I just want the world to know that I will never be able to find anyone like Gary. He really was my life, he’s what made me tick, he’s what made my heart beat, he’s what made my world go round. And I’ll never forget that,” Price adds.

Among the accusations made against Price in the media, there’s the one that she may have pushed him on the stairs, thus causing the brain hemorrhage that eventually killed him, that she was after his impressive toy collection and other valuable collections, and that she decided to take him off life support so that she could cash in on his death. This interview is supposed to put all these rumors to rest but the blogosphere is not convinced, saying there must be better ways of proving her love and devotion than by doing even more paid interviews.
