Garminfone, the Android-based mobile phone officially unveiled by Garmin not too long ago, is expected to make an appearance on the airwaves of T-Mobile USA come June, the wireless carrier announced recently. The smartphone comes to the market with a fully-integrated Garmin premium navigation experience.

According to T-Mobile, the new smartphone is expected to become available for purchase on its airwaves in June with a price tag of $199.99 attached to it upon the signing of a new two-year contract agreement on a qualifying voice and data plan. Moreover, the handset should be put on sale via select T-Mobile retail stores and online, the wireless carrier stated.

The new Garminfone should hit the shelves with Google's Android operating system on board, while offering a full touch experience, 3G connectivity options, and essential smartphone features like fast access to email services, support for Microsoft Exchange e-mail, contacts and calendar, social networking capabilities, instant messaging features, media player, and more.

“This sleek, full-touch 3G smartphone features multiple positioning technologies and on-board maps to provide navigation from the middle of town to the middle of nowhere – and back. Garminfone offers driving, walking and public transportation navigation with voice and on-screen directions and automatic re-routing as well as real-time traffic, weather, ETA and gas prices. Garminfone is also the first smartphone to feature Garmin Voice Studio, an Android application allowing customers to record and share custom voice directions from family and friends,” T-Mobile states.

The specifications list of the new device includes a 3-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, a large 3.5-inch touchscreen display, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity options, integrated Google mobile services such as Google Search by voice, Google Maps, and YouTube, not to mention fast access to the Android Market, Web browser with pinch and zoom capabilities, or video and photo uploading features. The new mobile phone from Garmin will be launched exclusively on T-Mobile's airwaves in the US.
