There will soon be a new wireless GPS device up for sale, one that Garmin developed for people who want to use global positioning system but don't really find their phones all that reliable.

There is a reason companies sell standalone GPS equipment. Smartphones are all well and good, but their accuracy can leave much to be desired, regardless of how good the app is.

As such, Garmin introduced the GLO Portable GPS and GLONASS Receiver, which can receive satellite signals from both the US GPS network as well as Russia's GLONASS satellites.

A single battery charge should be good for 12 hours of near-faultless directions and there should be no problems wirelessly connecting the item to Apple or Android devices (via Bluetooth).

All in all, this is an external GPS accessory that will work well even in thick forests or cities with tall buildings.

August is when sales begin, for the price of $99 / 80.75 Euro. An aviation package will be available too, for $129 / 105.22 Euro.
