In a special report issued to the masses today, Apple confirms that iMovie and GarageBand for iPad are available one day early from the iTunes App Store, priced at $4.99 each.

While not yet downloadable from the App Store, Apple has confirmed their upcoming availability.

“iMovie and GarageBand for iPad apps are available today for $4.99 each from the App Store on iPad or www.itunes.com/appstore,” reads the announcement.

Confirmed during the same special event that saw the introduction of the iPad 2, GarageBand and iMovie are two must-have apps for those who enjoy making music or editing video.

GarageBand has a lot of features that make it well worth the 5 bucks users are going to pluck to get it.

It virtually (and literally) turns the iPad into a collection of touch instruments and 8-track recording studio.

It allows users to perform with onscreen keyboards, guitars, drums and basses using multi-touch gestures and, best of all, works with both the iPad 1 and the iPad 2.

“Whether you’re a musical prodigy or just love creating your own walls of sound, GarageBand for iPad gives you all the tools you need to lay down fresh tracks and record music anywhere you go,” Apple says.

iMovie, however, will not work with the original iPad, as reported by Softpedia earlier this week. That’s ok though, as it also works with iPhone 4, and the fourth-generation iPod touch, in addition to the iPad 2.

According to Apple, iMovie helps users make great movies in minutes. It offers tons of editing options, including sounds and themes, and boasts a touch-interface unlike anything else on the market.

You can set the length of your clips, mix them, add music and sound effects, as well as cut and edit portions of a movie using the Multi-Touch gestures all iOS users have grown accustomed to.
