14 DAY TRIAL // What it is: Electronic Arts hasn’t reached so far the success it had hoped for with Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, a full pledged MMORPG. BioWare / Mythic team has now arrived with a brand new and lighter title, in the form of Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes.
Focusing on a six versus six versus six mechanic, with three teams fighting for supremacy on various levels, Wrath of Heroes delivers a pure online combat experience into which players can jump right in without any sort of earlier experience and without grinding their characters or anything like that.
Also, the best part is that Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes is completely free-to-play, as part of EA’s ongoing push into this segment on the PC.
How it is: Seeing as how Age of Reckoning wasn’t all that great, and how Wrath of Heroes was just announced, one might easily write off the new title as just an experiment waiting to fail. Thankfully, that’s not the case, as Wrath of Heroes is an extremely robust title with lots of things to be had.
Wrath of Heroes isn’t your regular MMORPG, as players can only choose between several pre-built characters, and then jump right into a battle against others. This allows the title to be enjoyed in bite-sized pieces, as players don’t need to invest time into developing their characters, choosing what powers to equip or just grind for experience points.
Instead, players will have a meta-character, according to BioWare Mythic, but not a lot has been talked about that or about how the game will actually earn its money, even if it’s going to be free-to-play.
Still, Wrath of Heroes delivers a mighty fun and dynamic experience, especially because you can swap out characters every time you respawn, so you can alternate between your favorites and help out your team on the road to victory.
When and on what: Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes currently doesn’t have a release scheduled, although a beta stage starts early next month.
