Sony takes the lead in Europe, as the awards of Gamescom 2010 have been unveiled. The Japanese gaming giant took the laurels in three separate categories, thanks to Gran Turismo 5 and, surprisingly, PlayStation Move.

Koelnmesse, the organizer of Gamescom 2010, has announced that a jury formed by games journalists and industry officials has selected the best offerings of this year's edition.

The Best of Show category has been won by Gran Turismo 5, the highly anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive racer. From the slew of new details about this title that were shown at the event, it seems that one BluRay disc may not be enough for Kazunori Yamauchi's latest car opus.

This is why Gran Turismo 5 won a second award for Best Console Game. It is clear that Sony has a lot to look forward for when it finally arrives this November.

PlayStation Move has been selected as being the Best Hardware Accessory showcased at Gamescom 2010. While many have doubted Sony, saying that Move is only an upgraded version of the WiiMote, the German jury at the convention was impressed by the peripheral's capabilities. Also this is Sony first battle won in the war with Microsoft's Kinect.

The Best PC game was, somewhat ironically, Crysis 2, the first multi-platform release in the franchise. Electronic Arts and Crytek have concentrated their marketing efforts on the console audience for this title, but it seems that the PC is still the best one the developer can deliver.

The Best Online title was Guild Wars 2, ArenaNet's first public demonstration of the game seems to have impressed everyone who has seen it. While the title is far from finished, it looks like a developer may finally deliver on the no grinding promise for a massively multiplayer online role playing game.

Super Scribblenauts was the Best Mobile game according the the Gamescom 2010, while the best family entertainment award went, of course, to Nintendo with Kirby’s Epic Yarn. Curiously, Microsoft has not received any awards.
