Following similar video demonstrations of Windows Vista digital memories and networking, Microsoft is now showcasing the gaming capabilities of its latest operating system. Windows Vista will in time become the number one gaming platform in the world slowly eroding the domination of Windows XP in this respect. Although consoles are compelling alternatives to computers, with Windows Vista, Microsoft is actually illustrating
an interesting experiment. The Redmond Company is bringing console features to Windows Vista based PCs - the Xbox 360 wireless controller.
Vista comes with an overhauled graphics and multimedia experience. And it is Microsoft's promise that the gaming experience has evolved in comparison to Windows XP. Introducing... the Games for Windows Demo, featuring Ben Reed, Microsoft Business Group Manager, Windows Vista of course and a few game titles.
"In this video (shot using Canon's new high-def HV20, which is Certified for Windows Vista), I talk about what "Games for Windows" means and how it helps ensure that games with this logo are easy to install and play, compatible, and safe. Within the demo, I use Lego Star Wars II and Company of Heroes to show the install process on a Toshiba Satellite P100, which has an NVidia GeForce Go 7900GTX graphics engine. I also cover the different features within Windows Vista that support gaming, such as Games Explorer and parental features. Other hardware highlighted in the video are the Wireless Xbox 360 Controller for Windows, the Microsoft Reclusa gaming keyboard and Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0," Reed stated.
All you have to do is follow this
link in order to access the video. But you have to stop for a second and think about the video demos from Microsoft. This is pure PR, you simply cannot take the demonstrations for anything else but a marketing push. And subtle is a thing that Microsoft cannot be, but is the Redmond Company trying too damn hard? Approximately 10 minutes of evangelism just to show that Lego Star Wars 2 runs on Vista and on top of a certain hardware configuration?
