A Canadian gamer has launched a class action suit against Sony because of the recent security issues with the PlayStation Network service and is asking the courts to award no less than 1 million Canadian dollars in damages.

McPhadden Samac Tuovi LLP, a law firm in Toronto, has announced the suit and has asked other gamers to join in and Sony Canada, Sony Computer Entertainment of America and other entities linked to the company are named as defendants.

The originator of the class action suit is Natasha Maksimovic, is 21 years old and lives in Mississauga, Ontario.

She is quoted by the law firm as saying that, “If you can’t trust a huge multi-national corporation like Sony to protect your private information, who can you trust? It appears to me that Sony focuses more on protecting its games than its PlayStation users.”

Natasha describes herself as being a long time gamer and she says she has been using the PlayStation Network for years.

This is not the first class action suit that has been filled against Sony because of the recent security issues it has had in relation to the PSN service.

Last week a man from Alabama also launched legal action and asked other users to join him in order to force Sony to pay damages and make sure that the PSN is more secure in the future.

The PlayStation Network has been hit by unknown assailants that have brought it down and have managed to also access the personal information of a huge number of users.

Sony insists that it is doing all that it can to confirm who was affected and make sure that they are announced of the potential risks while also discovering the identity of the cyber attackers.

The company is also working to bring the PSN back online, an event that might take place as soon as this week.
