Leading international developer of mobile phone games, Gameloft, has released Special Crime Unit, Blood On Campus, the first scientific investigation game available for mobile phones.

The game begins when a student named Shirley Mine is found dead and partially undressed in a motel room, apparently strangled and savagely beaten. The player's job is to join in the investigation, assisting and providing help to the Crime Unit by analyzing evidence found at the crime scene and interrogating suspects, in an attempt to unveil the truth about Shirley Mine's death.

The players have a large number of tools at their disposal including a fingerprint detector and UV lamp that are meant to help the player gather more evidence and find clues that might suggest how the girl died and who killed her.

The interrogation of the witnesses is done by multi-choice questioning, which is quite typical of a crime investigation game.

To be able to put the pieces of the puzzle together one needs to pay attention to details and not rely to appearances, as Gameloft lets us know that "only the evidence speaks the truth!"

The game was inspired from the multitude of investigation TV series (with CSI probably being one of them) and is described as having "realistic graphics that perfectly recreate the atmosphere of the top investigation series on TV". You can find more information about this game and the supported handhelds on Gameloft's website.
