Leading publisher of mobile games Gameloft has just announced the launch of a new title, which is aimed at the newly announced Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY smartphone.
The new mobile game is expected to become available sometime in the second quarter of the ongoing year, and will be exclusive to
the Xperia PLAY smartphone for a month.
According to the company, the new mobile game was released as part of a collaboration between the game publisher and the handset vendor.
“We are truly excited to continue our support of Xperia Play with an exclusive release of BackStab, bringing the action adventure experience to a new level,” said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president Publishing of Gameloft.
“We already have a strong line-up for Xperia PLAY and its capabilities as a fully enabled smartphone with dedicated gaming controls make this device one powerful contender in the gaming space.”
The new mobile game will bring players to an 18th century Caribbean island, where Henry Blake, the main character, is seeking vengeance after being wrongfully accused of treason.
All in all, the new title has all the chances to prove itself as an appealing RPG/Action game, and the screenshots that the company made available with it come as a proof of that.
“The game, titled BackStab is set on an 18th century Caribbean island and weaves an epic tale of revenge,”
Gameloft explains.
“Hero Henry Blake has been falsely accused of treason and will go to all means to seek vengeance on his British jailers. With a game play mixing action and adventure, BackStab incorporates an open 3D environment for free roaming, dynamic combat and counter-attacks.”
Unfortunately, the company did not unveil a specific release date for BackStab on Xperia PLAY, but, since the mobile phone is set to become available on shelves starting with April 1st, it should not be too long before the title is released as well.
