Large North American retailer GameStop has announced that, due to overwhelming demand, it will no longer take pre-orders for the Nintendo Wii U. Instead, the store chain has revealed that a special wait list has been created for members of its PowerUp Rewards loyalty program.

The Nintendo Wii U is out in November and, while its price is a bit high, plenty of fans and gamers want to get it as soon as possible.

The demand was so high, apparently, that GameStop has now stopped taking pre-orders from customers.

Instead, the retailer is allowing members of its PowerUp Rewards loyalty program onto a special wait list for the Wii U.

Customers only need to put their names on the list without having to make a deposit. They'll be contacted by GameStop when the Wii U is launched and they have 48 hours to respond.

Sadly, due to the huge demand, it's not likely that they'll get the Wii U on November 18, when it's going to be released in the U.S.
