The team in charge of the GameStop chain of specialist video game retailers announces that it is introducing a new Never Walk a Trade promotional program in order to make sure it can compete with the Wal-Mart’s decision to enter the used game market.

A representative is quoted by Gamespot as saying that the company is “empowering our store managers and associates to offer customers-- when they believe it is needed--the best value for their pre-owned video game and consumer electronic products.”

The chain believes that the new program can deliver more value for customers who are looking to trade in games, while also giving it an improved chance to attract more players.

Paul Rainer, the chief executive officer of GameStop, says that he is not worried about Wal-Mart and the competition the huge company can offer.

Rumors are saying that all stores close to a Wal-Mart are able to offer an extra 20 percent as trade-in credit in order to make sure that the competition does not attract new customers.

GameStop has recently announced that it has managed to benefit from the launch of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 and that it is abandoning its long-term plans to create a streaming and digital distribution platform.
