GameMaker: Studio, a suite of products dedicated to the development of games for various platforms, ranging from Android to Mac OS X, will arrive on Ubuntu in the near feature.

The guys behind GameMaker said that their solutions will speed up the coding for native languages with 80%, which means a game could be ready in no time.

In an interview with gamasutra.com, Sandy Duncan, CEO of Yoyo Games (developers of the GameMaker: Studio programming suite) explained that their software will be able to export games ready to be played in Ubuntu Linux.

Unity game engine has already made this move a while ago and it looks like more and more games gain Linux support from their developers.

If you are interested to buy and use GameMaker's development solution, more details about the pricing can be found on the official website.

It would be nice to see more support for Linux games. I just installed World of Warcraft through WINE on Ubuntu Linux. It is hard to imagine the "common" user being able to go through the processes necessary to do that.
