The development team at Disruptor Beam working on the social and browser-based Game of Thrones: Ascent announces that it has big plans for the rest of the spring, which include the launch of new content associated with the fourth season of the HBO television show, the introduction of major alliance-powered world events and the expansion of the crafting system.

Jon Radoff, the leader of the company, says that his team has ambitious plans that are designed to keep long-time players engaged, while also making it easier for new gamers to get to the best parts of the title.

Just as television fans will be able to watch the fourth season of A Game of Thrones, gamers will be able to solve a number of quests associated with it, with surprise appearances from some familiar characters.

At the same time, there’s a plan to make alliances and conflict between them more important for gamers who are engaged with Ascension, with a new system of perks that can be earned by accomplishing great deeds.

The developer explains in a blog that, “These perks will give your members certain benefits for being members of your alliance. Different perks will involve some choices that your leader can make, to allow alliances to provide certain bonuses in line with their overall strategic goals.”

At the same time, the Adventure Party system of Game of Thrones: Ascension will be updated in the coming weeks in order make it compatible with the Alliance versus Alliance system and add an extra layer of strategy to the experience.

A new type of World Events will take place about once per month and will allow gamers to experience a major in-game situation which they can choose how to respond to.

Radoff explains, “Anyone will be able to participate in this event, but the alliances who were most active during the AvA phase will have some special advantages in this final, brutal battle. Unlike the AvA conflict itself, success in this phase will be oriented towards cooperation, crafting and exploiting the reward-items you received during AvA (with a decreased emphasis on silver).”

The core crafting system is also being modified, allowing gamers to salvage equipment in order to craft more powerful versions of the weapons and items they are using.

No official launch dates have been offered for any of the new features announced for Game of Thrones: Ascent, but they are all expected to arrive before the end of May.
