Disruptor Beam, a developer focused on online games and social experiences, has announced that it is working with HBO Global Licensing to create a new social game experience, linked to Facebook, built around the world of the Game of Thrones television series.

The game will be called Game of Thrones Ascent and the development team promises that gamers will be able to explore the locations seen in the television series and interact with some of the most interesting characters in the book.

Players will be able to become a family’s leaders and will need to lead them through the troubled times, pledging their allegiance to one of the great houses, developing both reputation and their holdings, creating alliances and going on quests.

Jon Radoff, the chief executive officer at Disruptor Beam, stated, “Everyone at Disruptor Beam was a huge fan of Game of Thrones long before we began working on the game, so we recognize that other fans expect character-driven conflict and intrigue to take center stage in our new game.

“Westeros is the perfect setting to deliver on our vision of weaving stories through decisions and social interactions.”

James Costos, who is the vice president of HBO Global Licensing, added, “We recognize that one of the reasons Game of Thrones has been so successful is because of its large and ever-supportive fan community.

“For this reason, we are delighted to give our fans the opportunity to dive even further into the world of Westeros and live out tales of intrigue, sacrifice and deception inspired by the stories they love.”

The team at Disruptor Beam also promises original artwork and ease of use, making the game appealing to all those who are interested in the Game of Thrones universe.

Game of Thrones Ascent currently does not have a launch date, but more details are promised in the coming months.
