Games of Thrones Ascent is getting closer to launch and the development team at Disruptor Beam is keen to give fans of the books and television series on which the title is based a look at the actual story and gameplay of the Facebook-based experience.

Gamers will be able to choose to be a banner man to either the Starks or the Lannisters and go on a quest that sounds simple but which involves information that might affect the entire Seven Kingdoms and the lands beyond them.

The official description from the development team states, “The storyline is spun alongside the events of A Song of Ice and Fire as written by George R.R. Martin and depicted by HBO. Disruptor Beam has partnered with both to craft a twisting storyline that progresses with each decision you make.”

It adds, “In Game of Thrones Ascent, you'll play as a newly minted noble who rises to power during the events that lead to the outbreak of the War of the Five Kings.”

In order to complete missions in Game of Thrones Ascent, players will have to use their own character and their Sworn Swords, which can get upgrades and new abilities from a variety of buildings that they can create in their holdings.

Gamers can also use their resources to help or hinder the efforts of others and as the game progresses, allegiances will shift as various new factions join the fight and treachery is revealed.

Disruptor Beam also promises that the entire power structure of the Seven Kingdoms will begin to unravel, just like in the HBO television series, and players will have more options to seize power or simply help others.

At the moment, the developers have not offered any clear information on the pricing structure for the game, other than that it will be free-to-play.
