When it comes to Valentine’s Day, there is never too much that can be done to show the loved ones how they mean the world to us. Whereas some of us settle for just a regular Valentine card, or flowers and candy, others would travel across the globe for a romantic break with their lover. Of course, it would be one of the romantic things ever, since we’re speaking about a perfectly heart-shaped island, Galesnjak, off the coast of Croatia.

The owner of Galesnjak, a small deserted island, admits that he always thought that his property resembled a heart, but it wasn’t until it made it in Google Earth that he truly became convinced of it. Now, he says, after so many people have seen the island (whose name has officially been changed to a more appropriate Lovers’ Island), he is assaulted daily with thousands of requests for romantic breaks there, especially with Valentine’s Day just around the corner.

“It has been incredible. We think it is the most perfect heart-shaped island in the world. Nobody lives there, so if lovers really do want to spend time alone it’s the perfect desert island. We always thought it looked a bit like a heart, but since it’s been on Google Earth everyone else has seen it too and the whole world seems to want to stay here.” Vlado Juresko tells the media about the 130,000-square yard island.

Spending Valentine’s Day there could prove somewhat of a challenge for incurable romantics, though, even if Mr. Juresko fails to mention that. On a perfectly deserted island with no water or food supplies, and with temperatures barely over 13 degrees Celsius, tourists would undoubtedly no longer see their weekend in the same rosy light as before setting foot on it. The ladies, it is being said, would most likely not appreciate being stranded there, even if their loved one was close by.

As of now, it is believed that Juresko is actually considering doing something about the island so as to be able to accommodate at least some of those many eager tourists. Should he be able to do so, a trip to Lovers’ Island would clearly be the perfect present for Valentine’s Day, it is being said.
