Fishlabs, the German-based 3D mobile game developer, announced the release of Galaxy on Fire 2, the sequel to the award-winning game with the same title (minus the "2", of course).

Following the success of the first Galaxy on Fire, its second part is set to offer a new and spectacular space adventure.

The story of the game goes like this: Keith Maxwell, the mercenary hero that GoF fans are already familiar with, is propelled through space and time by a hyperdrive flaw from its spaceship. Thus, ol' Keith wakes up in a different galaxy, 35 years in the future, where he finds that a new and mysterious race is threatening the whole universe. And, since a hero's got to do what a hero's got to do, Maxwell decides to fight the hostile race and save the universe.

The features of Galaxy on Fire 2 include impressive 3D graphics, more than 20 solar systems, over 30 spaceships, 100 different 3D-made space stations, a wide range of new weapons and equipment, several mini-games and various races to interact with.

Talking about both the old and the new Galaxy on Fire, Michael Schade, Fishlabs' Chief Executive Officer, said, "The first part of Galaxy on Fire, which appeared a good three years ago, was our first really big 3D title. The game was revolutionary in its graphics and game depth and earned nothing but top scores in countless tests. Naturally, the expectations for the second part in our fan community are just as high. There is good reason we took our time with the sequel, and we are sure that Galaxy on Fire 2, with its improved graphics and completely new gameplay elements, will even surpass the success of its predecessor."

Well, this all sounds very good, hence fans of the space shooter genre should expect Galaxy on Fire 2 with enthusiasm. Fishlabs says the new game will be available in "late autumn", so let's hope there won't be any delays in releasing it.
