14 DAY TRIAL // Today, Australian mobile phone carrier Vodafone has unveiled officially its plans to make the Samsung Galaxy Tab Android-based tablet PC available for purchase on its stores as soon as tomorrow, November 12th, while aiming at making it available for online purchase on Monday, November 15th.
At the same time, the wireless carrier unveiled the pricing at which the new slate will be made available for it customers, including month-to-month options, and two-year contracts.
The slate will be made available for $0 upfront on the carrier's $79 and $99 per month contracts, offering users a total of 3GB and 4GB worth of data.
In case users wold like to purchase the slate without a contract, they would have to pay $999 for it on any of the month-to-month options the wireless carrier has put in place for them.
“The Samsung Galaxy Tab can be used as both a smart-phone and a tablet computer, reinforcing Australia’s desire for mobile Internet on the go,” Ross Parker, General Manager of Devices and Pricing said.
“Vodafone customers can make the most of the features of the Galaxy Tab, using the customization of the Android platform and the pre-loaded apps, with our range of both voice and mobile broadband plans available.
“The Galaxy Tab is a welcome addition to the already stellar line up of Android devices,” he added.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab is the first tablet PC that Samsung brings to the market with Google's Android operating system on board.
The slate sports a 7-inch touchscreen display, complemented by a 1GHz application processor, and support for 3G networks, as well as for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Moreover, the slate comes with dual cameras, a 3.2MP one on the back, and a 1.3MP camera on the front for video calling.
The Galaxy Tab also comes with enough internal memory (16GB/32GB) to fit the needs of any user, as well as with a microSD memory card slot for up to 32GB of additional storage space.
