Android phone fans will certainly rejoice learning that wireless carrier Telenor has just announced that customers in Sweden can get the new Samsung Galaxy Tab slate for free on a contract agreement. Although only one carrier made the move, chances are that others would follow suit, especially in Europe, where many devices go free on contract.

Currently, people in Sweden interested in the purchase of a Galaxy Tab from Telenor can pre-order the device on the wireless carrier's website.

As stated above, the new Android-based slate is available for free, as long as one chooses a two-year contract agreement with the operator, on a monthly plan that starts at 369 SEK (55 USD) per month (with a total cost of around 8856 SEK, or approximately 1320 USD).

A closer look at the carrier's website also unveils the fact that Galaxy Tab is expected to arrive in Sweden within the next one to three weeks, and chances are that it would be launched before November 1st, the day when UK customers can purchase it.

It remains to be seen whether this will actually happen or not, but we can say for sure that having a 7-inch tablet available for free on a contract agreement sounds pretty appealing.

In case there are some of you who did not meet the Galaxy Tab until now, they might want to know that, in addition to the said 7-inch touchscreen display, the slate also comes with a 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor inside, able to offer increased levels of performance.

Moreover, the Android-based Tablet PC also comes with W-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity options, as well as with video calling capabilities, not to mention that it sports built-in GPS receiver.

A MicroSD memory card slot enables the addition of up to 32GB of external storage into the equation, while the TouchWiz UI thrown on top of Google's Android 2.2 OS should provide a great user experience too.
