Mobile phone carrier U.S. Cellular has just performed a price cut for one of the most appealing devices available for purchase on its airwaves in the United States, the Samsung Galaxy Tab. The Android-based tablet PC is now available for purchase at the wireless services provider for only $199.99 upon the signing of a tow-year contract agreement with the company.

The price cut is a considerable one, but it applies only to the Galaxy Tab units bought with the carrier’s 5GB data per month plan.

U.S. Cellular's 5GB plan would cost $54.99 per month, and offers customers the possibility to use their devices as a portable 3G Wi-Fi hotspot.

However, the plan does not include unlimited messaging, and those who would like to add that to the mix would have to pay $20 per month extra for the option.

The total monthly cost for this plan would rise up to $74.99 per month. In case all of the 5GB of data are consumed, the plan includes a charge of $0.25 per megabyte overage.

The wireless operator has the Galaxy Tab available with other monthly plans as well, including a 200MB plan, on which the slate is priced at $399.99.

The 200MB plan costs $14.99 per month, but it requires the same $20 for unlimited messaging, and the $0.25/MB overage fees. No 3G Wi-Fi hotspot option was included with the plan.

The wireless carrier’s move makes its offering on Galaxy Tab one of the most appealing one on the US market.

Since all of the largest operators in the United States have the Galaxy Tab in their offering, we wouldn’t be surprise if they also decide to come up with equally competitive offerings.

Those users interested in the purchase of a Samsung Galaxy Tab from U.S. Cellular should head to the carrier’s website here.
